Crochet scarfs

Last year I joined a crochet class. I knew how to crochet before I attended the class, but not so much more than the basics, and I didn’t know how to follow a recipe. It is possible to do quite a lot without those skills though, and only with some basics. So I made a lot of small vests and jackets.
.

I did miss the possibility of being sure that the proportions were ok though, which often ended up with being a surprise along the way. I also missed the possibility of variations in stitches (I am not sure whether this is the correct English word) and patterns.

So, I joined a course. Here is the first thing I tried to make by following a recipe. A scarf. I liked the pattern, and it was easy when I had learned the basics about it. The scarf is a little bit heavy, and too stiff to have around the neck. But really cosy, warm and nice to wear over the shoulders on a cold winter evening.

I don’t remember now where I found the recipe,. It was from one of the many library books I was borrowing at that time.

When I had finished the scarf I wanted to make something more ,using the same stiches, just to be sure I would not forget them. I decided to knit another scarf, but just plain and not in any specific shape, just to maintain the new skill.

This scarf is still in progress, as my son was born right in the middle of it..

New life, new blog

The first coffee in the morning. Wool. The smell of a wood stove. Yarn. Cows. The west coast of Ireland. Friends and family. Nepal. Travelling. Dreaming. Handwritten letters. Photos. Cats. Vegetarian cooking and baking. Books. Organic products. Art. Crochet. Blogs. The smell of wool. My cute baby. These are some of my favourite things.

I am a Norwegian living in Denmark, and the mother of an amazing little person who is half Nepalese.

I like both the city and the countryside, but not so much the thing in between. Right now I am living in the middle of the city, while dreaming of cows, the ocean and ecovillages. I live here with my son (Silas Nimai), and sometimes with my husband too.
..

My blog is about my daily life, my travels (especially to Nepal and Ireland), my hobbies, activities and interests. I am documenting the small things I do and think, to store it as a diary, and to keep in touch with friends and family far away.
